The Commonwealth Youth Council has concluded its first-ever internship programme, with seven young professionals from across the Commonwealth serving with the Secretariat between October 2025 and January 2026 in its Communications and Marketing and Web Design teams. 

The internship welcomed seven young professionals from five Commonwealth countries, Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Rwanda and Trinidad and Tobago, to support the work of the Secretariat. 

The Communications and Marketing team included Christiana Akalanze (Nigeria), Tochukwu Ogunaka (Nigeria), Thierry Tuyizere (Rwanda), Kelvin Wang’ondu Maina (Kenya) and Belinda Nketia (Ghana). The Web Design team comprised Stancey Yeboah (Ghana) and Tevin Cole (Trinidad and Tobago). 

Throughout the programme, the interns supported a range of activities across the Secretariat, including digital communications, content production, website development and online engagement, while working alongside the Council to advance its work across the Commonwealth. 

Speaking on the experience, Communications and Marketing Intern Tochukwu Ogunaka said: 

“I sincerely appreciate the opportunity to have served with the Commonwealth Youth Council. It was a rewarding experience that allowed me to learn, contribute, and grow both personally and professionally.” 

The successful completion of the internship programme sets the foundation for future cohorts, further strengthening the Commonwealth Youth Council’s vision of empowering young people to lead, innovate, and drive sustainable development across member states.
