The Commonwealth Youth Council (CYC) is the official representative voice of the more than 1.5 billion young people in the Commonwealth. The CYC was first established in 2013 with the support of the Commonwealth Secretariat’s Commonwealth Youth Programme.
It was endorsed by Commonwealth Heads of Government at their biennial summit in Sri Lanka as an autonomous, youth-led organization

Accelerate Action – International Women’s Day 2025
The Commonwealth Youth Council (CYC), working with the Programme for Africa Leadership at LSE (PFAL), is organising an event to commemorate International Women’s Day (IWD) on March 8, 2025, on the theme “For all women and girls: Rights, Equality and Empowerment #Accelerate Action.”

Celebrating 31st World Disability Day: CYC organises a Seminar and Cultural Programme on Amplifying the voices of Youth with Disabilities.
New Delhi, India – On the occasion of the 31st World Disability Day, the Commonwealth Youth Council (CYC), under the auspices of Ms Farhana Bhat, Representative for Special Interest Groups, organised a Seminar and Cultural Programme at the iconic India Gate, New Delhi, under the theme: Amplifying the Leadership of Youth with Disabilities for an Inclusive and Sustainable Future.

Commonwealth Secretary-General Meets CYC Chairperson to Discuss Youth Empowerment
The meeting provided a platform for discussing Joshua Opey’s ambitious 5-star plan for the over 1.5 Billion young people across the Commonwealth. Key areas of focus included education, skills, inclusive leadership and the role of young people in addressing global challenges such as climate change and digital transformation.
