In June, 2025, the Commonwealth Youth Council, led by the Chairperson, Joshua Opey, met with the Secretary General of the Commonwealth, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, at The Commonwealth Secretariat, Marlborough House, London, UK.

Being the first formal engagement since the SG assumed office, on behalf of the CommonWealth Youth Council, the chairperson extended a congratulatory and welcome message on behalf of the over 1.5 billion young people of The Commonwealth and reiterated the readiness of the youth to work with the Secretary General to deliver on her agenda for the Commonwealth in which youth form the majority population. As a result of this commitment, the team presented a 5-point plan to deliver the youth agenda. The plan emphasizes a youth-driven approach, ensuring the Commonwealth maximizes our youth potential to guarantee our prosperous future.
