One-Country One Project Initiative

The one-country one project initiative we are working on implementing comes from our realisation that global problems like youth unemployment need local solutions. Hence, through this initiative, we will ask member countries to propose one project, which we will then support with our knowledge and expertise at the CYC to benefit the young people in your countries. We will be liaising with the National Youth Councils for this initiative.

The Commonwealth Young Leaders’ Fellowship

The Commonwealth Young Leaders Fellowship (CYLF) will be a six-month youth leadership development programme that aims to support, equip, and elevate a new generation of Commonwealth changemakers. It will be delivered under the auspices of the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, reinforcing the Secretariat’s commitment to empowering youth to take ownership of the future of the Commonwealth.

Constitutional Review

The CYC Executives, pursuant to a Motion passed by the General Assembly and reflected in the outcome statement of the Windhoek Declaration 2025, have commenced processes for a comprehensive constitutional review as part of efforts to reposition the CYC to reflect changes over the past decade of existence. This is also aimed at ensuring the CYC has a streamlined governance structure that is responsive and efficient in addressing the ever-growing needs of Commonwealth youth and stakeholders in the youth development ecosystem.

CYC Secretariat

In accordance with Article 18 of the CYC constitution, the CYC Executive Committee is working with stakeholders, including the Commonwealth Secretariat, to finalise arrangements for a host country for the CYC Secretariat. In the next year, this will be pursued rigorously to ensure the CYC has its own secretariat in addition to the already existing arrangements at Marlborough House in London.
